Published On : 19 Jun 2018

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold ‘Black Day’ on June 25 to mark the 43rd anniversary of the day Emergency was imposed in India in the 1970s. The decision to hold June 25 as ‘Black Day’ was taken in a meeting of the core committee held in which the ruling party had chalked out a list of programmes for the day.

As many as 25 Union ministers are expected to participate in the ‘Black Day’ programme. According to the reports, the party will honour those who had been detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). An oath will also be taken to protect democracy.

The Union Ministers and state leaders are expected to visit various districts of the country to speak about how Indira Gandhi played an instrumental role in the imposition of Emergency in 1975 from June 25, 1975, to March 21, 1977.
